Winds of the Swahili Coast - B&W

from $950.00

The Swahili Dhows of Lamu, Kenya, hold a timeless charm and cultural significance that embody both the sea-faring spirit and the artistry of the Swahili people. Dhows have sailed along the East African coast for centuries, are crucial in trade, fishing, and cultural exchange, and have been built traditionally on the Kenyan coast, particularly in Lamu, since at least the 8th century. They were crafted by skilled Swahili artisans who passed down their expertise through generations. Each boat is hand-made, with no two Dhows alike, showcasing the unique artistic touches of the builder. Louisa captures the romantic charm of Lamu in her coastal collection.

  • All photos are signed limited edition prints: M 50 : L 25 : XL 15

  • Print sizes in the drop-down menu refer to the image size only

  • Each photograph has a 2-inch (5cm) white border surrounding the image
