Turkana Tribe - Mbili (Two in Swahili)

from $950.00

The women and girls of the Turkana tribe will never be without beaded necklaces and jewellery, the quantity and style of jewellery a woman wears tell us whether she is single or married, it distinguishes between age groups, development stages, occasions, and status of individuals or groups in the Turkana community. When I visit these villages I am always drawn to photograph the spirit of female empowerment and women’s use of adornment as self-expression.
