Simba - Lion
Simba means Lion in Swahili. This photographic print commands attention with the young African Lion's penetrating eyes gazing straight at the viewer, unsettling yet powerful. This image is part of my wildlife photography collection, it was captured in the Maasai Mara, a vast game reserve in Kenya. While in a Land Rover with canvas sides and no doors, a young male lion began walking towards me, his eyes locked onto mine. There was an intense moment of recognition as I slowly raised my camera and clicked, capturing the powerful eyes of this majestic creature and meeting his gaze down my lens. The exhilaration of that encounter was unforgettable. Respecting the lion's power and proximity, I asked the driver to move the vehicle quickly, as there was nothing to protect us if he decided to jump.
