Proud Turkana - mixed media
This woman is from the Turkana tribe. The Turkana are one of the more courageous groups of warriors in Africa. They inhabit the northwest region of Kenya. I call her Proud Turkana because of her strength and grace. Survival is not easy in the dry, remote area where she lives, it is often prone to drought. I see so much power in how this elder holds herself.
This portrait was taken digitally and I used a layering technique to create the effect. The dots are guinea fowl feathers that were photographed separately and digitally layered over the original portrait.
All photos are signed limited edition prints: M 50 : L 25 : XL 15
